Solutions - FAQ
Q: What is it exactly?
A: The Better Working Health & Safety application
is an easy to use database that you install onto a computerto
record accidents, incidents and training in the workplace.
Q: What does it do?
A: The Better Working database provides you with a convenient
place to record all of your employee’s information such
as medical requirements, emergency contact details, and accident
and incident details. This information can be used to provide
reports to various agencies as well as provide you with statistics
on the safety performance of your team.
Q: Why do I need this in my workplace
– I already have enough paperwork!
A: The main reason for constructing this application
was the recognition that employers are busy people. There is however
a requirement in law to provide a safe and healthy workplace.
Breaches of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 (New
Zealand) can and do cost negligent employers thousands of dollars
in fines. A recent case (2007) resulted in fines to an employer
due to significant hazards on a worksite even though no injuries
resulted.
Q: How will it help me manage incidents
and accidents in my workplace?
A: The Better Working Health & Safety database will
provide you with a method of collecting and reporting on all accidents
and incidents in your workplace. Over time you will be able to
see patterns develop, for example the most common injuries prevalent
in your workplace. This will assist you in knowing where to provide
training to prevent or lessen such injuries.
Q: Do I have to enter all the information
in myself?
A: That depends on several factors. Obviously for the
very small business where you only have a few employees, it may
be more practical for you to do this. For larger businesses, the
database can be located on an employee’s computer where
that employee has the responsibility of keeping the database up
to date. Where this is the case there are features within the
database that allow key information to be emailed to you to allow
you to keep track on what is happening in your workplace.
Q: What sort of computer hardware
do I need to run this database?
A: The minimum recommended platform is a Windows XP SP2
and above PC. While not absolutely essential, we recommend that
at least a 17” LCD monitor (1280x1024 resolution) be used.
Q: What sort of costs are involved?
A: As the application is aimed at the small business
we have tried to set it at a realistic price. The complete stand-alone
application will cost 299.00 NZD per computer.
Q. What support can I expect?
A. There is an included help file in the package. If
your particular issue is not covered in the help file, you can
email us for support issues. You will need to quote your registration
number. We reserve the right to charge for support depending on
the issue /level of support required.
